Providence Extended Care, Seward Mountain Haven recognized for quality long-term care
Both rated as ‘high-performing’ in U.S. News & World Report
review of more than 15,000 nursing homes
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Providence Extended Care and Providence Seward Mountain Haven have been recognized as among the best nursing homes in the country in the U.S. News & World Report 2019-20 nursing home ratings.
The nursing homes both received an overall rating of 5/5 and a long-term care rating of “high-performing.” This rating evaluates a home's ability to care for residents who need daily assistance with medical needs such as administering medications and non-medical needs such as dressing, eating and using the bathroom.
“Our caregivers work diligently to ensure we provide the best care possible to residents of Providence Extended Care,” said Angela Lewis, administrator for Providence Extended Care and Providence Transitional Care Center. “We are honored to be recognized for the compassion, quality-of-care and dignity we provide to older Alaskans in need of nursing home care.”
Robert Rang, administrator of Providence Seward Medical & Care Center, echoed that sentiment.
“Being rated among the best nursing homes in the country is an incredible honor,” Rang said. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication our team provides to our residents.”
U.S. News rated more than 15,000 nursing homes to help people find the best home for their loved one. The data used to evaluate these homes come from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and include metrics of registered nurse staffing, adherence to best practices in preventive care and resident safety, and minimizing the need for and use of anti-anxiety or hypnotic medications.
