Providence Kodiak Island collaborates with Alaska Radiology Associates to provide imaging services to island

Collaboration will expand, improve options for patients

KODIAK ISLAND, Alaska — Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center (PKIMC) will collaborate with Alaska Radiology Associates (ARA) to provide full-spectrum imaging services to Kodiak.

This collaboration will result in more options for patients, including a full range of high-quality imaging and professional radiology services. ARA — Alaska’s largest private practice radiology group — began serving patients in Kodiak on May 24.

“We are excited to welcome Alaska Radiology Associates to the Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center care team,” said Karl Hertz, administrator of PKIMC. “Their experience, dedication and expertise are a huge asset to our patients and providers, ensuring people get the care they need where and when they need it.” 

Some of the improvements include sub-specialty radiologists in Neuroradiology, Breast Radiology, Body Imaging, Vascular Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging and many new imaging-guided procedures previously only available off island, substantially faster turnaround times with most routine exams reported in under an hour (urgent exams in under 30 minutes) and 24/7 real-time coverage with final reports. Patients will receive the highest quality sub-specialty diagnostic services and providers will receive their results much sooner, enabling faster and more accurate treatment.
