Providence hospital finds success using tele-monitoring to care for COVID-19 patients

COVID-19 has forced us to change the way we live - and it's changed the way some doctors and nurses and providing care.

From necessity came a new way to treat COVID-19 patients - at home.

Healthcare providers at Providence Medical Center say it's working. This is called tele-monitoring.

Not only does this reinforce that COVID-19 patients can be treated long distance and get better but it helps underscore that in all the news of cases going up, there are recoveries too.

Providence Regional Medical Centers have found their medical equivalent to a stay home stay health order.

Out of necessity, it launched a tele-monitoring for suspected COVID pateints in early March. It started at their Everett facility, where they treated patient zero.

"What it came down to is we want to know what their temp is and how they're breathing and what their heart rate is," said Dr. Todd Czartoski, Chief of Medical Technology at Providence Medical Center.
