Queen of the Valley Recognized for Providing the Highest Quality Care to Patients

Queen of the Valley Medical Center (QVMC) is proud to share several recent quality and safety recognitions that reflect our commitment to providing exceptional care to our patients.

“Patient safety is always our top priority. Our recent quality ratings reflect our caregivers’ dedication to making Queen of the Valley the best place for our community members to receive care. These recognitions are a result of our caregivers’ teamwork, talent and dedication to our mission,” said Larry Coomes, Chief Executive.

Recent quality and patient safety recognitions include being named as:

  • An “A” Hospital Safety Grade Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization which evaluates hospitals based on quality, transparency and safety (click here to review a detailed summary from the Fall 2018 report). You can compare our score to other hospitals in the area here.

  • A Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, making QVMC the only Certified Primary Stroke Center in Napa County. This Gold Seal of Approval reflects our commitment to continuously improving performance, reducing risks and fostering better outcomes for stroke patients.

  • A “Top Performer” in reducing Sepsis Mortality by Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH). QVMC is the only ministry in PSJH’s 50 hospitals utilizing the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)-led Sepsis model and it has seen dramatic results since its roll-out in March 2017. Queen of the Valley was recognized for reducing the mortality rate for a patient with sepsis from 15 percent to 9 percent since the implementation of the program. In terms of national benchmarks, this performance places Queen of the Valley in the top 10 percent in the country. The hospital is now ahead of the curve compared to many hospitals, thanks to the caregivers who are proactively recognizing and managing this deadly infection and saving lives.
