Learn English through games

At a time when parents are scouring the web to find the right resources to try to perform the duties of homeschooler, it's not that difficult to find online learning outlets that are simple and fun. The Games To Learn English website is full of fairly challenging games that help kids (target audience appears to be 7 and under) learn some of the basics of English.

I was one of those parents searching the web to find ways to keep my daughter engaged. I was specifically looking for some type of tool to help her understand present and past tense. To my surprise, this no-frills website was just the thing. Using a mix of animals, clothes, people and much more, the site presented some interesting challenges for my daughter.

For instance, in one game she was asked to drag & drop the present tense of the word next to the past tense of a word. See the screenshot below. She was timed and was given a score for her work. She found it fun and kept playing for about 20 minutes.

There is a wide array of offering out there, and we'll be showcasing more on this blog. We hope you find these tips helpful.

Remember, most of us are not professional teachers, but now is the time when we need to step up and do our best to educate our kids. And, when this is all over I'm sure most of us parents will have a newfound appreciation for what professional teachers do each day.

Do your best. We'll get through this together.
