Safe Haven Baby Boxes Installed at Covenant Health Hospitals
New Safe Haven Baby Boxes are now available across the South Plains at three Covenant Health hospitals-reinforcing our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. Boxes were installed at Covenant Children’s in Lubbock, Covenant Health Plainview, and Covenant Hospital Levelland.
These Safe Haven Baby Boxes provide a secure option as a last resort for parents in crisis to safely surrender their newborn with complete anonymity. Each box is climate-controlled, alarm-activated, and monitored 24/7 by Covenant caregivers to ensure immediate care and protection of the surrendered infant.
“We believe in meeting people where they are—particularly in their most vulnerable moments,” said Tavia Hatfield, Executive Director of Community Health Investment at Covenant Health. “These Safe Haven Baby Boxes reflect our mission to serve with compassion, dignity, and unwavering support.”
“We have seen time and time again that preparation can save and change lives. We never know when or where we will be needed, so it is crucial to have options for mothers in crisis,” said Monica Kelsey, Founder and CEO of Safe Haven Baby Boxes. “I am grateful for local advocates who take our mission to their community.”
Thank you to the donors whose generosity made the Safe Haven Baby Box possible: Turning Point Community Church, the Joachim Foundation, and Church on the Rock.
We also recognize the following design and construction partners for their contributions across all three locations:
