The importance of flu shots in the COVID-19 era

As flu season continues, many are wondering whether the flu vaccine will protect against COVID-19 and if it’s worth getting the shot. Dr. Elizabeth Meade from Swedish Hospital states that “no, the flu shot does not protect you against COVID-19 but it does protect you from the flu and the reality is we know people can get things like the influenza and COVID-19 at the same time.”

Dr. Meade advises the public to protect themselves from everything there are vaccines for to stay as healthy as possible, playing a part in relieving doctors from fewer flu patients to focus on the combatting COVID-19.
