Beware of email, text and phone call scams related to CrowdStrike

Phishing warning image

Bad actors are taking advantage of the CrowdStrike outage with phishing attempts that include fake emails, phone calls and texts. Providence caregivers are reporting fake emails and phone calls.

Remember: Providence will never ask you for personal information via email or text. Thank you for being diligent in keeping our data safe by using the tips below.

Suspicious emails

  • Do not click on links in suspicious emails.
  • Always verify the email sender. Legitimate systemwide updates about CrowdStrike are sent from Providence Communications (communications@providence.org). Local updates will come from your legitimate local communication channels.

Phone calls and text scams

  • Never trust caller ID. Bad actors can spoof phone numbers.
  • Be cautious of text scams, especially those that may impersonate our senior leaders.
