Clarkston man finds cardiac care close to home
John Fisher has lived in Clarkston, Washington since 1968. As an outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking and hunting. Five years ago, he said he started to slow down and feel weaker.
Fisher was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and was sent to Providence Heart Institute where he underwent a transformative robotic cardiac surgery using the Da Vinci system.
“It was a quick recovery, four or five days at the most at home before I was working on projects,” Fisher said.
He’s kept busy ever since the procedure. And traveling 100 miles to Spokane for a checkup is not ideal. The availability of Providence Clarkston Cardiology clinic has eased the way for Fisher.
“Having the facility here to do checkups is really great,” Fisher said. “Here is just as good as what I get up there and it’s just more convenient for the local patients. They don’t have to drive a couple of hours and go through the hassle of having to go through the city.”
Providence’s heart providers in Clarkston are part of a team of specialists and sub-specialists, ensuring patients receive care where and when they need it. The clinic is a part of the Providence Heart Institute in Spokane, which provides the most comprehensive heart and vascular services in the region.
“In and out and I’m home — kicking and working,” Fisher said.
