James Park, MD, MHA joins Providence Swedish as Chief Medical Officer, North Puget Sound

EVERETT, WASH. – Providence Swedish is pleased to announce James Park, MD, MHA has joined as the new North Puget Sound chief medical officer (CMO), effective June 19, 2023. As a key member of the North Puget Sound executive team, Dr. Park is responsible for the coordination of care, quality, patient safety and physician services at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, Swedish Edmonds, and Swedish Mill Creek. In his role he will lead over 1,500 physicians and clinicians, support physician and advance practice clinician engagement and development, strategy, and operational optimization across the care continuum.

“I am honored to join Providence Swedish and to serve alongside the incredible team of physicians and caregivers in North Puget Sound,” said Park. “As a native of the Puget Sound area, I am eager to build upon the culture of quality, safety and commitment to the community that already exists at PRMCE, Swedish Edmonds and Swedish Mill Creek.”

Dr. Park comes to Providence Swedish with over two decades experience as a physician leader at UW Medicine, Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash. Most recently Dr. Park served as Valley’s chief medical officer where he championed a culture of safety based on high reliability organization principles leading to continuous care delivery improvement. He also fostered an environment focused on caregiver wellbeing, which empowered caregivers to do their best work every day.

Dr. Park received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and his Master of Health Administration from the University of Washington. He completed a family medicine residency and internship with Valley Medical Center.

Dr. Park enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He also enjoys water and snow skiing, bike racing, and pondering the return of the Seattle Supersonics.
