Providence Regional Medical Center Everett’s updated Substance Use Treatment and Recovery space provides a healing environment
EVERETT, Wash. — Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE) relocated its Substance Use Treatment and Recovery (SUTR) program to an updated space on its Pacific Campus (916 Pacific Ave, Everett). The refreshed space strengthens the medical center’s capacity to care for patients seeking treatment and recovery services in Snohomish County.
The relocation improves the care experience for patients and caregivers alike and adds capacity for growth. Private rooms better support patients with varying clinical and isolation needs while creating a more serene and healing setting for treatment and recovery. Updated safety features and expanded multi-use space also support highly specialized care.
The move comes at a critical time—opioid overdoses treated in the emergency department are more prevalent than ever. The new unit opened with 15 private rooms and has room to grow to 19 over time, improving access to care immediately and supporting future expansion. The previous unit had 14 beds shared between seven double-occupancy rooms. The unit receives as many as 30 calls a day for services.
Generous donations to Providence General Foundation, as well as support from Providence’s Well Being Trust, helped make this upgraded space possible, marking a significant investment in substance use treatment and recovery services for the region.
“We’re now able to create a more serene, healing experience from the moment a patient arrives,” said Meredith Dunham, nurse manager for the program. “Thanks to our generous community, we are better equipped to support people through treatment with greater privacy, dignity and flexibility.”
The project reflects Providence Swedish’s continued commitment to expanding access to behavioral health services in Snohomish County and strengthening recovery care across the region. At PRMCE, that continuum also includes Behavioral Health Urgent Care, inpatient behavioral health, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs and the Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse.
