Providence asks community to limit visitation during respiratory viral season
Out of concern for the health and well-being of the community, and due to the widespread prevalence of respiratory viruses such as RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and flu among young children, Providence Alaska asks that children 12 years old and under do not visit patients who are hospitalized at this time.
Additionally, we ask that people please stay home if feeling sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms, maintain good hand hygiene by washing or sanitizing hands frequently, and remember to cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow to limit the spread of germs in the community. All visitors will continue to be required to wear a mask during visits to ensure safety of their loved ones and our caregivers.
People should also consider getting vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19 – including the latest COVID-19 boosters – to protect against getting sick this holiday season.
