Covenant Ready program teaches students about health care careers
The Covenant Ready program, at all Covenant hospitals in Texas, is dedicated to educating students in the South Plains about various careers available in health care. This initiative targets middle, high school and college students, highlighting opportunities to explore potential futures in health care.
The program aims to recruit and inspire the next generation of health care workers through engaging activities such as summer camps and the live operating room program, which provide students with firsthand exposure in a hospital setting. Covenant Ready also assists students in securing internships and training opportunities, enabling them to earn professional certifications.
The Covenant Ready Summer Program is designed for students in grades 6-8. During this summer camp, students participate in immersive experiences such as hospital tours, observing X-rays, witnessing lung demonstrations and exploring emergency vehicles.
“We wanted the opportunity to show them that you can be anything,” said Terri Morris, director of Covenant Ready. “It’s exciting and renews your spirit when you see they are the future of health care in Lubbock.”
The Covenant Ready Live OR Program provides students with a unique opportunity to witness real-time surgeries performed by our physicians. It allows students to not only observe surgical procedures but also engage with Covenant caregivers.
Through firsthand observation and interactive learning, students gain a deeper understanding of the skills, expertise, and teamwork involved in health care professions. The Covenant Ready Program fosters curiosity, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for the health care industry.
