In 1970, the average cancer survival rate was 40%. Today, it’s closer to 70%.

This progress is driven in large part by clinical trials — where research and patient care come together to advance treatment and improve outcomes.

Patients from throughout the Northwest and beyond travel to Portland to participate in these trials.

Natasha Edwin, M.D., a hematologist and medical oncologist at Providence Cancer Institute, recently shared how our trials made a difference for one woman from Walla Walla, Washington, on KATU’s Family Matters.
