Caregivers raise more than $1,000 for multiple sclerosis awareness

June 2026

Our Neuroscience Institute team in Portland came together this spring to support people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) — raising awareness and funds for those affected.

Uniting for a shared purpose

On May 16, caregivers from our Neuroscience Institute’s multiple sclerosis team joined the Portland Walk MS, a community-wide effort dedicated to advancing research, treatment and support for individuals living with multiple sclerosis.

Led by Kyle Smoot, M.D., a neurologist and associate medical director at the Providence Multiple Sclerosis Center, the team walked alongside others impacted by the condition, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving lives both inside and beyond the clinical setting.

Extending care beyond the hospital

More than 20 caregivers and their families participated, coming together to raise over $1,000 in support of programs, research and resources for those navigating multiple sclerosis.

Their efforts reflect our Mission: To meet people where they are, offering compassion, seamless access and personalized support at every stage of their care.
