Gratitude Report highlights how philanthropy supports Providence patients and communities

Stanley Cohan, M.D., Ph.D., is grateful for donor support to Providence Multiple Sclerosis Center

Author: Kelly S. Buechler, chief philanthropy officer, Providence Foundations of Oregon

Thanks to our donors’ generosity, Providence Foundations of Oregon raised $51 million in 2022. This includes gifts to our hospital campuses and our statewide centers of excellence, such as cancer, heart, brain and spine, children’s health and more.

These gifts help Providence to discover new cures and treatments, purchase the latest medical equipment, provide care to vulnerable communities, and add services to meet the growing needs of our patients. Over and over, we hear that our patients give because they are grateful for the care they receive – thank you!

Please read the most recent Gratitude Report from Providence Foundations of Oregon, which features some of the many ways donations in 2022 made a difference in the life of Oregonians.

Here are a few examples of what donations in 2022 made possible:

  • New technology that detects subtle changes in the brains of patients with multiple sclerosis much earlier than before
  • Special intubation devices that can help care for the tiniest babies – as small as 35 ounces
  • Advocacy programs that help vulnerable patients overcome barriers to care, such as homelessness, substance abuse disorders, food insecurity and behavioral health needs
  • Major gifts that launched important initiatives for expanded emergency services and heart screenings for young athletes
  • A team of highly trained forensic nurses that supports patients during their most vulnerable time
  • Gifts that support key areas of cancer research, including in head and neck cancer, gene editing and targeted therapies
  • Donations within each ministry that fund key programs for our communities, patients and caregivers

We hope you enjoy the 2022 Gratitude Report. Thank you for everything you do to shape healthier lives for all Oregonians.
