Keep your care with Providence: How to check if your provider is covered

September 2026
Changing health insurance can feel stressful, especially if you're worried about keeping the doctors and care teams you know and trust.
· Watch for open enrollment information. Read the materials you receive from your health plan, employer or Medicare. These are provided before open enrollment and explain coverage options, changes for the coming year, and timeline for selecting a plan.
· Make sure your contact information is up to date. If your mailing address, phone number or email has changed, contact your health plan using the phone number on the back of your ID card.
· Confirm with your care team is in-network. Check the provider directory for your specific plan as networks can change from year to year. Verify with your insurance provider that your clinics, doctors, specialists and hospitals are in-network (contracted) for the plan you select.
· Review what’s changing next year. Coverage and costs can change from year to year. Check the provider directory and compare deductibles, copays, coinsurance and out-of-pocket costs, in addition to monthly premiums.
· Update your insurance information in MyChart. After enrolling, don’t forget to update your insurance information in MyChart. Having current insurance information on file can help prevent delays in appointments, billing and other services.
