Donor gives landmark gift to fund cancer care in Napa

NAPA (Sept. 12, 2025) – Queen of the Valley Medical Center Foundation announced today a historic multi-million-dollar gift from an anonymous donor to grow and enhance cancer care at the Napa hospital. The donation of $7.5 million is the second largest in Queen of the Valley’s history.

“The donor’s vision is aspirational, and it will impact thousands of lives for years to come,” said CEO of Queen of the Valley Foundation and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center Rachael Poer. “We are incredibly grateful for this transformational gift that will allow us to enhance our state-of-the-art cancer services. Our community’s tradition of partnering with the hospital to ensure high-quality care is available for themselves and their neighbors continues to inspire and makes this a great place to live, work and visit.”

The donor’s personal experience watching loved ones suffer through cancer treatment inspired this gift that will increase the availability of healing programs and services for patients in Napa. The hospital is finalizing details around the new developments that will be added to Queen of the Valley’s core services as a result of this gift. In addition to advancing cancer care, the donor’s wishes also included restoring and modernizing the hospital’s outdoor dining patio/garden to provide a place of respite for health care workers, patients and visitors to ease their way while visiting and caring for patients.

The hospital is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Queen of the Valley’s cancer program is also an American College of Radiology designated Mammography Accredited Facility and Radiation Oncology Accredited Facility.
