Providence and Healthy Petaluma Announce $830,000 in Grants Supporting 15 Agencies Serving Petaluma and Southern Sonoma County

PETALUMA, Calif., July 8, 2026 — A committee established by Providence and Healthy Petaluma District and Foundation (Healthy Petaluma) announced at the June Healthy Petaluma District Board meeting $836,000 in grants to 15 agencies serving Petaluma and southern Sonoma County, reinforcing a shared commitment to community health and well-being. The 2026 grants will support essential programs and initiatives addressing some of the region’s most pressing needs, including behavioral health, older adult health and well-being, homelessness and housing instability, and healthcare access. 

The agencies receiving these funds are: Petaluma Health Center, HomeFirst, On the Margins, YWCA Sonoma County, Committee on the Shelterless, The Living Room, Buckelew Programs, Operation Access, Rebuilding Together Petaluma, City of Petaluma SAFE Team, Café Puente, Food for Thought, Generation Housing, Circuit Rider Community Services and Mothers Care.

The grants were awarded by the Petaluma Valley Community Health Committee, a partnership between Healthy Petaluma and Petaluma Valley Hospital, which is owned and operated by Providence. As part of the 2021 agreement for Providence’s purchase of Petaluma Valley Hospital, the hospital has committed to providing the funding for these annual grants through 2030. Representatives from both organizations serve on the Community Health Committee and help guide how these funds are invested to meet local needs.

“Healthy Petaluma’s focus is making sure southern Sonoma County has access to the health and wellness programs its residents need,” said Ramona Faith, CEO, Healthy Petaluma. “These grants support 15 local organizations working on some of our most pressing challenges, from behavioral health to housing instability to healthcare access.  We’re grateful to work with Providence to get these resources to the agencies doing that work every day.”

The 2026 grants will continue to build on broader community health investments in Petaluma. This includes the additional $200,000 Providence has dedicated to the city’s Blue Zones Project as part of its funding commitment in the community. Spearheaded by Healthy Petaluma as a multi-year wellness transformation initiative, Blue Zones supports community health and well-being by encouraging healthier lifestyles and helping reduce healthcare costs. Both Petaluma Valley Hospital and Healthy Petaluma are Blue Zones Approved Worksites.
