Providence Orange County and High Desert Hospitals Receive High
Hospital Rankings and Rating Honors from U.S. News & World Report
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (July 31, 2025) – U.S. News & World Report announced its prestigious Best Hospitals ratings this week, bestowing 47 honors to Providence hospitals in the High Desert and Orange County, including a national ranking for Providence St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton and statewide rankings for Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Orange and Providence Mission Hospital.
U.S. News and World Report’s annual Best Hospitals Rankings and Ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

U.S. News’ annual evaluation measures excellence in patient care across a variety of procedures and conditions, as well as in high-acuity care.
Each of Providence’s hospitals in Orange County and the High Desert received high performance rankings:
- Providence Mission Hospital and Providence St. Joseph Hospital, Orange – These hospitals were recognized as a Best Regional Hospital and tied for 10th in the Los Angeles metro area and 23rd in the state. Each facility was recognized as High Performing in a total of 16 specialties, procedures and conditions. Shared recognitions include spinal fusion, congestive heart failure, colon cancer surgery, heart attack, hip fracture, kidney failure, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, lung cancer surgery, pacemaker implantation, pneumonia, stroke and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). In addition, Providence St. Joseph earned High Performing ratings for heart arrhythmia, diabetes and prostate cancer surgery, while Mission was recognized for orthopedics, pulmonology and lung surgery and hip replacement.
- Providence St. Jude Medical Center – Recognized as a Best Regional Hospital, Providence St. Jude was ranked 24th in the Los Angeles metro area and 60th in the state. Providence St. Jude also received national ranking for rehabilitation. U.S. News rated the hospital as High Performing in nine specialties, procedures and conditions: spinal fusion, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, hip fracture, hip replacement, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, pacemaker implementation and stroke.
- Providence St. Mary Medical Center – Providence St. Mary in Apple Valley achieved High Performing ratings for the treatment of diabetes and stroke.
To calculate the Best Hospitals rankings, U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from millions of records provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
