Welcoming our new chief administrative officers for Sonoma County hospitals

After a competitive selection process, we are pleased to announce the chief administrative officers (CAOs) for our Santa Rosa and Petaluma/Healdsburg medical centers. It is our great pleasure to welcome these two new leaders – Michelle Oxford, MBA, FACHE (Petaluma Valley Hospital, Healdsburg Hospital) and Donovan Taylor, MHA, BSN, RN (Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital) – on May 6.

Michelle Oxford has accepted the role as CAO for Petaluma Valley Hospital and Healdsburg Hospital. Michelle comes to us from Kern Health Systems where she has been the executive director of Medicare since August 2022. In this position, she was responsible for strategically leading the evaluation and planning of a new service line for Medicare Advantage.

Prior to this role, Michelle served for ten years at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital; she was their president and CEO for seven years. Michelle has a wealth of experience in hospital operations, service line growth, financial performance and coordination within an integrated delivery network.

As we welcome Michelle, we bid a fond farewell to Troy Gideon who has served as Petaluma Valley and Healdsburg Hospitals’ interim CAO for the past year. Troy is returning to Southern California and will stay on until early May to help onboard Michelle.

We also welcome Donovan Taylor as our CAO for Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Donovan joins us from Kaiser Permanente, East Bay where he has provided leadership as associate chief administrative officer over two medical centers (Oakland and Richmond).

Donovan is a registered nurse and held positions of increasing responsibility, overseeing trauma and emergency services at Kaiser Permanente locations in Downey, Irvine and Walnut Creek, Sutter Health Eden and Castro Valley and Regional Medical Center in San Jose.

Donovan served in the U.S. Army for a total of 16 years. He started as a non-commissioned officer in multiple units and left as an executive officer in the 528th Special Operations Support Battalion. He has volunteered with the American Refugee Committee in the Balkans to support 200,000 displaced individuals. We thank him for his service to our country.

Please join us in welcoming Michelle and Donovan as they step into their new leadership roles!
