Providence Vincent House Welcomes New Assistant Housing Director

Providence Vincent House is excited to welcome Amy Baker as its new part time Assistant Housing Director. Baker started her new position December 31, 2014 and is a great addition to the Supportive Housing Team!

Baker is new to Supportive Housing, but not new to Providence. Her Providence career started at Providence ElderPlace in 2002 as a Recreational Therapist. Providence ElderPlace offers the PACE program model of care (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) which allows older adults who qualify to live in a nursing home to remain independent and living in the community for as long as possible. When asked what consistencies she sees between ministries Baker stated, “The consistency between the ministries has to be the compassion, for sure! The Sisters of Providence illuminated this when they continued to bring in the poor and vulnerable even when their house was full. Each Providence ministry has this as their foundation and are continuing this in the work they provide to each person they serve.“

Baker balances her new role at Providence Vincent House while also serving as an active member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. She has been in the reserves for the past 17 years and continues to fulfill her monthly duties at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. When the position at Providence Vincent House became available, it gave her the opportunity to balance her family and professional life while remaining within Providence Senior and Community Services, a division of Providence Health & Services

“Amy has only strengthened our Supportive Housing Team, and has brought her experience with PACE to improve service connections to our tenants,” said Jennifer Bachhuber, Housing Director, Providence Vincent House. Baker’s friendly personality and outgoing nature have made her a natural in housing and she has already revived Bingo and Movie night since joining our team.”

Baker adds, “I love the environment and the diversity of the position. I enjoy being able to support the tenants in whatever challenge or obstacle is happening in their lives.”

Baker continues to grow familiar with the residents that live in Providence Vincent House and all the unique qualities that make our program special to the Providence and Pike Market Community.
