Dr. Lutz and Team at Spokane Regional Health District Receive Providence Humanitarian Award for 2020
Spokane, Wash.— Providence Health Care awarded Spokane County Health Officer Bob Lutz, MD, MPH, and the team at Spokane Regional Health District as the 2020 recipients of the Sister Peter Claver Humanitarian Award.
“Similar to Sister Peter Claver, Dr. Lutz and the entire team at Spokane Regional Health District is leading our community through unprecedented times with great humility, poise and compassion,” said Peg Currie, chief operating officer for Providence Health Care. “Their unwavering commitment to community health and their willingness to collaborate with others is to be commended. This work helps ensure a healthier community for all its citizens, especially those who are vulnerable.”
Named after Sister Peter Claver who led Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for two decades, the award has recognized individuals for their visionary leadership and unparalleled commitment to people they serve. This year, the Sister Peter Claver committee unanimously selected Dr. Lutz and the employees of Spokane Regional Health District as this year’s recipients in recognition of their relentless efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was presented to Dr. Lutz and the Spokane Regional Health District team during a virtual all-team meeting. They were joined by members of the Sister Peter Claver Committee, Peg Currie of Providence Health Care, and several key community leaders.
