Providence hires new Treasurer
Rafael Martinez-Chapman joins Providence as senior vice president and treasurer
Providence, a not-for-profit health system serving the Western U.S., announced today it has named Rafael Martinez-Chapman as its new senior vice president and treasurer effective December 12. Rafael brings 25 years of diverse financial experience from multiple industries and will report to Chief Financial Officer Greg Hoffman.
Rafael comes to Providence from Lumen Technologies, where he spent the last 14 years rising to the position of senior vice president, treasurer and head of corporate finance. His experience managing global teams for Lumen gives Rafael a keen ability to align systemwide needs while allowing for flexibility in local execution.
“Inspired by Providence’s Mission of serving all, I look forward to using my experience to ease the way for caregivers and patients. I am excited about joining the Providence family and helping Greg execute the new initiatives,” Rafael said.
Rafael’s financial leadership brings knowledge of capital markets, risk and cash management, capital allocation and structure, organic and acquisition growth, and divestitures, as well as a proven track record in organizational and team success.

Rafael studied at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance and a focus on sustainability. His intimate knowledge of financial systems and intellectual acuity will be paramount to our family of organizations.
