W. Alex Stevens, MD - Medical Staff President
Family Medicine
Dr. W. Alex Stevens completed his Family Medicine Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in 2016. Dr. Stevens joined the Providence Medical Group Southwest Washington Hospitalist Team in July 2020, becoming a part of the medical staff at both Providence Centralia and St. Peter hospitals. He became Providence Centralia Medical Staff President in January 2025. He oversees governance, privileging, credentialing, and regulatory matters for the medical staff while providing leadership and guidance.
Mark Nishiyama, MD - Interim Credentials & Bylaws Committee Chair

Dr. Mark Nishiyama currently serves as the Interim Chair of the Credentials & Bylaws Committee at Providence Centralia. In this role, Dr. Nishiyama is responsible for overseeing the review and verification of qualifications for individuals seeking membership and privileges. Dr. Nishiyama completed residency at White Memorial Hospital, Los Angeles, CA and has been a member of the medical staff since March 2001 when he joined Centralia Women's Center.
Jordan Abel, DO, Past president/Providence Centralia Medical Staff Peer Review Committee Chair

Dr. Jordan Abel, former Medical Staff President and current chair of the Peer Review Committee, graduated from the Providence St. Peter Family Medicine Residency in 2016. Dr. Abel joined both Providence Centralia and St. Peter hospitals medical staff following his graduation and currently works at Providence Rochester Family Medicine. He oversees peer review at Providence Centralia, with a focus on maintaining high quality of care and patient outcomes. Additionally, he is an advocate for ensuring peer review is a positive and thoughtful process, supporting the medical staff.
Chris Hawkins, MD - Anesthesia-Medicine-Surgery Departmental Committee Chair

Dr. Chris Hawkins completed his residency program at New York University Medical Center in 2000 and subsequently pursued an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Utah Medical Center in 2001. He is part of the esteemed team of surgeons at Washington Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Hawkins has been serving as the chair of the Anesthesia-Medicine-Surgery Departmental Committee since January 2025.
Jennifer Marnik-Scalici, CO - Perinatology Departmental Committee Chair

Dr. Jennifer Marnik-Scalici, former Medical Staff President (2014-2025, 2017-2018) and current chair of Providence Centralia's Perinatology Departmental Committee, completed her residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI. Dr. Marnik-Scalici has been with the Centralia Women's Center and the Providence Centralia Medical Staff since September 2007 and St. Peter Medical Staff since October 2011. She excels in maternal-fetal medicine, providing skilled and compassionate care for complex perinatal conditions.

Richard “Rich” Redman, MD - Medical Staff President
Critical Care Medicine
Dr. Rich Redman’s term as Medical Staff President started in January 2024. He is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Medical Staff, including governance, privileging, credentialing, and meeting regulatory requirements. Dr. Redman completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 2006 followed by a Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Duke University. He has been with the Providence Medical Group Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Clinic since 2009.
Sara Martinez, MD, PhD – President elect/Credentials Committee Chair
Cardiovascular Disease
Dr. Sara Martinez joined the medical staff in 2016 and works with Providence Cardiology Associates. She will become Medical Staff President in January 2025. Dr. Martinez completed her Internal Medicine Residency in 2010 and Cardiology Fellowship in 2015 at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. She also finished an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic, New York, NY in 2016.
Amanda “Mandy” Achterman, DO – Perinatal Services Departmental Committee Chair
Family Medicine with OB
Dr. Mandy Achterman, who received the 2025 Rural Health Practitioner of the Year award, completed the St. Peter Family Medicine Residency Program and joined the medical staff in 2017. She works at Summit Pacific Medical Center, where she provides a wide range of women's health and prenatal care services. Mandy remains active with the St. Peter Family Medicine Residency as one of the current faculty members.
Geoffrey Ankeney, MD – Primary Care Departmental Committee Chair

Dr. Geoffrey Ankeney joined the medical staff in 2018 and has chaired the Primary Care Departmental Committee since 2022. An alumnus of Providence St. Peter Family Medicine Residency, graduating in 2009, he plays a key role in fostering relationships and ensuring open communication while balancing departmental and staff interests. As a member of Kaiser Permanente, Geoff provides both outpatient care and inpatient care on the Kaiser Hospitalist team.
Penelope “Penny” Goode, MD – Emergency Medicine Departmental Committee Chair
Emergency Medicine
Dr. Penny Goode completed her residency at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA in 2010 and became part of the medical staff in July of that year. As the Emergency Medicine Departmental Committee Chair and Medical Director, she works with the Olympia Emergency Services team to ensure quality care for patients.
Hamish Greenaway, MD – Surgery Departmental Committee Chair
Anesthesiology
Dr. Hamish Greenaway became part of the medical staff in 2015. Before joining the medical staff, he completed his residency at Maine Medical Center and a regional anesthesiology fellowship at the University of Washington. Additionally, he serves as the Medical Director of Perioperative Services. Dr. Greenaway is a vital member of Pacific Anesthesia.
Hetal Kothari, MD, MPH – Medicine Departmental Committee Chair

Dr. Kothari completed residency at New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital in 2009 and joined the medical staff in the same year. She currently serves as Medicine Departmental Committee Chair and Providence Medical Group Medical Director and provides clinical and administrative leadership. She oversees the hospitalist teams at St. Peter and Centralia hospitals, ID and Psychiatry teams at St. Peter to ensure alignment with the hospital's goals.
Alexander Kats, MD – St. Peter Medical Staff Peer Review Committee Chair

Dr. Kats serves as the chair of the Medical Staff Peer Review Committee, focusing on improving health care quality through peer review processes. He also leads the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee. Dr. Kats has been a member of the St. Peter medical staff since 2008 and the Centralia medical staff since 2009, working with the Providence Medical Group Hospitalist teams. He completed his residency at United Health Services – Wilson Medical Center, New York, NY in 2007 and pursued a sports medicine fellowship at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in 2008.
