Providence expands kidney and pancreas transplant program
Providence is expanding its kidney and pancreas transplant services with the addition of two fellowship-trained transplant physicians. Dr. Nasir Khan and Dr. Nathalie Jean specialize in caring for patients with late-stage pancreas disease or kidney failure.
Dr. Khan and Dr. Jean are part of a multidisciplinary transplant team at Providence Kidney & Pancreas Transplant Center that supports patients throughout their entire care journey.
This is great news for our community because it means we can help more people waiting for an organ transplant,” said Dr. Rebecca Mallo, Providence Medical Group chief medical officer. “Providence has one of the most successful transplant programs in the nation because of our experienced, diverse care team. We are excited to see it grow with the addition of Dr. Khan and Dr. Jean.”
Dr. Nasir Khan joins as the director of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center’s kidney and pancreas transplant medicine program. Dr. Khan completed his education at Yale School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Khan practiced emergency medicine in Australia before moving to the United States to focus on internal medicine and transplant nephrology. Prior to his role at Providence, Dr. Khan served as an assistant professor at University of Arkansas Medical School’s kidney transplant program.
Dr. Nathalie Jean is a fellowship-trained physician who completed her specialized training with University of Chicago’s transplant program. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Jean has practiced medicine for nearly 20 years.
