Providence Mount Carmel Hospital earns top rank for hospital quality

Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) awarded Providence Mount Carmel Hospital a five-star rating for quality, the highest designation for the 2022 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings evaluation.

Providence Mount Carmel Hospital is one of only eight hospitals in Washington to receive a five-star rating this year and the only one in Eastern Washington to earn the honor.

“This top rating reflects our caregiver’s dedication to providing exceptional, compassionate care to our rural communities,” said Ron Rehn, Providence Mount Carmel Hospital Chief Administrative Officer.

"We are so proud of the work our Stevens County ministries do every day to ensure everyone in Eastern Washington has access to the highest quality health care,” said Susan Stacey, Providence Chief Executive.

The CMS ratings can help potential patients determine where to seek medical care.

The evaluation includes thousands of hospitals nationwide. Each is rated based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.

Hospitals receive one to five stars, with five representing the best quality. Only 429 facilities nationwide, including Providence Mount Carmel Hospital, received five stars.
