Providence launches Vote for Health campaign to empower and engage voters

The online campaign is an educational resource to promote civic engagement

Providence, one of the largest health care systems in the nation, today launched the Vote for Health campaign to encourage voter registration and opportunities to volunteer to get out the vote ahead of the 2020 Presidential election.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought about unprecedented health care challenges and significant unemployment, the family of organizations making up Providence believe voting is a vital part of the democratic process and will shape the size and scope of future health-related programs and services.

“Elections determine the future of programs and services that support the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Ali Santore, senior vice president of government affairs and social responsibility for Providence. “The campaign supports voter registration and mobilization, and offers information on top-line health-related issues across Providence’s seven-state footprint.”

The campaign includes a website  where visitors can easily confirm their voter registration is up to date or register to vote. Voters can also pledge to vote, share why they vote for health and find volunteer opportunities to get out the vote.

“We are launching Vote for Health because we believe that health is a human right and that everyone should have a voice in the democratic process,” said Santore. “By providing patients and voters with easy access to voter registration and voting resources in their states, we want to empower individuals to engage in shaping in the future of their communities.”
