Queen of the Valley earns prestigious breast center accreditation

NAPA, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2025) – On the heels of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center announced today that it has received accreditation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States after skin cancers.

NAPBC accredited centers are twice as likely to have high performance on breast quality measures,” said Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Medical Officer Amy Herold, M.D. “This national accreditation is a significant honor that reflects the world class care we provide to our patients who are battling cancer.”

Programs accredited by the NAPBC follow a model for organizing and managing a breast center to facilitate multidisciplinary, integrated, and comprehensive breast cancer services. The NAPBC focuses on the spectrum of a patient’s journey with breast cancer or breast disease, including prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship. By setting high standards, NAPBC accreditation guides breast centers in providing comprehensive breast care based on scientific evidence.

Surveyors praised Queen of the Valley’s “beautiful facility” located in a “tranquil setting”, “close proximity of all services on campus”, 12-week Soules Family Cancer Wellness Program available free of charge to all cancer patients who reside in the Napa Valley, and “excellent, state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care” for patients.

“We are committed to offering patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease. That includes working with a multidisciplinary team of breast health specialists — including oncologists, radiologists, nurses, technologists and others—to personalize care to fit the needs of each patient,” said Providence Medical Group Medical Oncologist and Breast Program Director Neha Damle, M.D.

Queen of the Valley demonstrated proficiency in the standards established by the NAPBC including center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement.
