Notice to community: Acute Rehabilitation Unit closing Nov. 8 at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the closure of the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center effective Nov. 8, 2024.  

The closure will impact 13 acute rehabilitation beds that will convert to general medical and/or surgical beds in the future.  

29 staff members will be impacted by the closure of the acute rehabilitation unit. As with any change in services at our hospitals, our caregivers are our priority. The impacted caregivers will be given an opportunity to apply for open positions within Providence and with Therapeutic Associates, Inc. (TAI), the rehabilitation company contracted to provide services at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. 

The following four nearest comparable available hospitals accept major insurances, including Medicare and Medi-Cal: 

  • Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center a general acute care hospital with an inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit.  

  • Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital a general acute care hospital with an inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit.  

  • Northridge Hospital Medical Center a general acute care hospital with an inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit.  

  • Valley Presbyterian Hospital a general acute care hospital with an inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit.
